Angela Lynkushka's stunning new portrait series of Aboriginal community Elders, leaders and artists from the Gippsland region was created in collaboration with the sitters. Commissioned by State Library Victoria, this photographic series provides an important and empowering contemporary view of leaders in the community.
Each sitter selected the place and manner in which they were photographed to show the connections between identity, culture, place and representation.
Angela's insightful images operate at the intersection of art, documentary portraiture and social documentation. She views each portrait as a collaboration between the photographer, the sitter and the camera.
