Rewrite the Greats

“What I have learned is that love, the beauty of it, the joy of it and yes, even the pain of it, is the most incredible gift to give and to receive as a human being. And we deserve to experience love fully, equally, without shame and without compromise.” - Ellen Page

Our society has been built on exclusive narratives which paint a narrow picture of what a loving couple looks like.

The Rewrite the Greats campaign aims to show the world’s most iconic love stories in film and literature reimagined with queer couples. In doing so we hope to challenge viewers to reconsider their definition of a ‘loving couple’ or ‘great love’ to be inclusive of the LGBTIQ community.

Popular culture and the stories we share shape our society. We can’t hope to open people’s minds without first breaking down outdated narratives and making space in Australia’s cultural landscape for the LGBTIQ community.

Love is universal, and it’s time that was reflected on our screens and in our stories.
